Popular Roofing Colours

These are some of the most popular colours in our roof coating colour range, available in Gloss, Satin and Metal Roof Renew.

The Solar Absorptance (SA) of each colour refers to the amount of solar radiation that a roof absorbs, with the remaining portion being reflected. The lower the SA, the cooler the surface temperature will be.

Heat Resilient Roof Colours

Dulux Acratex Roof Membranes can form part of a heat resilience strategy and assist in reducing the urban heat island effect.

Dulux Acratex Roof Membranes in White have excellent low solar absorptance (SA) and high Solar Reflectance (SR) Index (SRI) and thermal emittance. They reflect up to 90% of the sun’s total light energy before it is absorbed and converted as heat, keeping the roof surface cooler.

Other colours available in Dulux Acratex Roof Membranes have low solar absorptance and also meet the Green Star criteria for heat resilience. We’ve included a selection here.

Dark roofing colours with improved solar absorptance*

Where a darker colour is preferred, consider choosing from the Dulux Acratex Cool Roof with InfraCool® Technology range. Colours in this range are achieved using heat reflective tints, resulting in lower solar absorptance when compared with the same colour tinted into most standard roof coatings.

How to choose a commercial roof colour

The final selection of the commercial roof colour can depend on your property type, function, location and region.

Consider weather conditions and elements such as how much sun the property is exposed to, climate and extreme weather patterns. Check the solar absorptance value or the Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) value when selecting a roof colour to help determine the amount of heat that is either absorbed into or reflected away from the property. For heat reflective coatings and solutions for metal roofs on commercial buildings, consider Dulux Cool Roof Commercial White, a coating that can help enhance heat reflectivity a coating that can help enhance heat reflectivity and improve occupant comfort.
